KraussMaffei’s MX series of large, high-performance machines has been strongly established in the market for many years. MX machines combined with swivel platen technology (SpinForm) are ideal for mass production of large multicomponent products. The optimized platen geometry of the two-platen clamp ensures highest precision and highly dynamic responses. This makes for exact, parallel-platen mold closing, even with heavy multicomponent molds.
At the K2010, we will be showing a next generation multicomponent molding production cell from MX 1000 SpinForm injection molding machine combined with a RimStar Nano high-pressure PUR metering and dosing machine. Together with an IR automation, a cutting device and an assembling station it covers a complete production unit for molding a complex 3C thermoplastic/PU composite part in a one-shot process for parts with enhanced functionality, locally optimized haptics and a wide range of premium surfaces. High-pressure PUR processing has definite advantages, compared with other methods. Also new are the RimStar Nano mixing and metering machines and the small-volume mixing head.
The RimStar Nano extends the proven machine range in the direction of extremely small component volumes with a high dosing accuracy.
The new mixing head is also targeted at high-pressure processing for low throughput applications. Our specialists optimized both the piston materials and the manufacturing techniques, so that even with these minute dimensions they are capable of withstanding the forces acting on them inside the mixing head. High-pressure mixing heads self-clean automatically in every cycle through the movement of the cleaning piston. This means ideal conditions for combining PUR processing with injection molding.
